Northern Shovelers at Laurentian Wetland

    It was a grainy, moisture-laden day following yesterday's torrential rains; certainly not an ideal day for photography. Laurentian Wetland is always an interesting place to visit and today I was hoping for an influx of waterfowl arriving from their northern breeding grounds. 
    There was no great variety but these Northern Shovelers (two of several) show their huge spatulate bill very clearly, hence the name of the species.

    No bright sunshine enlivened the myriad colours of fall, but even on a grey, gloomy day, the colours are spectacular.
